DeltaNu has developed the smallest, most portable Raman instrument for plastics identification. The RAPID•ID is a self-contained, palm-sized Raman spectrograph with integrated logic and memory. In less than a minute, the RAPID•ID can distinguish the resinor compound to make sure it is what it supposed to be. By comparing the Raman spectra of a sample against that of reference plastics in memory, it allows users to identify or verify the identity of plastics anywhere along the value chain: In the receiving dock, in the stockroom, on the production floor, on the shipping dock or in the field. It enables users to verify the contents of a shipment before it is even unloaded off the delivery truck.

The RAPID•ID eliminates the need to wait for results from destructive laboratory tests and also eliminates the hazards associated with outdated methods such as "burn-and-sniff". It also significantly reduces the risk of potentially large liabilities due to material mix-ups. It is the most affordable material ID instrument in the market today. Its open architecture means that the user can choose to use our standard basic resin libraries or to develop a library for the materials that are specific to their application.
